Osteoporosis is a condition caused by reduction
of the bone matrix. Bones are weak and brittle.
Osteoporosis can lead to fractures, mainly of
the spine and hip.
Osteoporosis is often asymptomatic until fractures
occur, but can also be detected using DEXA bone
densitometry examination.
DEXA bone densitometry is used to detect osteoporosis
or osteopenia. It is done safely and conveniently
using only a low dose of radiation. The result
of the DEXA bone densitometry will indicate
the bone fracture risk, compared against reference
from the World Health Organization (WHO).
